DISPERSE
In April 2015 Chloë began to grieve. Years have passed but she is still grieving, this is a grief that will be forever present. Disperse is a way to channel that sorrow. To comprehend what happens to us when we die.
Material is ground down to ash. A choir sings a lament for the living and for the dead. In a circle of pestles and mortars, the audience are invited to join Chloë in a ritual of death and disappearing.
Disperse is a work for public spaces, it invites passers-by to sit and think about their grief, perhaps to talk about it. It welcomes quiet reflection, tears or the angry smashing of wood.
